My name is Bob Fisher. I’ve lived in City Park since November 1985. Since we became a co-op, I served on the Membership Selection Committee, the Pet Committee, the Bylaws Committee, the Finance Committee, and as a director. I am currently president of the Board of Directors as of April 2025 after being appointed to the Board in March 2025. I’ve been president, vice president, secretary, and liaison to a variety of Committees. Concurrently I served as president, vice president and secretary of the Co-operative Housing Federation of Toronto. I also served as president and vice president of Colandco, the co-op’s landlord. I’m currently a director on the Board of an international fellowship. I retired in October 2016 after 43.5 years as a federal and then provincial bureaucrat.
I have lived at City Park for over 30 years and have been active serving on the Finance Committee and the Board at various times. My most recent experience serving was as the treasurer for 2023-2024.
I am interested in ensuring that members continue to have a safe, secure, well maintained place to live here in the heart of Toronto. I have focused on projects that improve our safety and security; and a focus on our financial stability to ensure that we spend our funds wisely to maintain the buildings and deliver service to our members. I continue to work with the Board on other priorities, such as the wellbeing of all our members through informative activities such as Link and Aging in Place and social activities such as the bbq’s.
Outside of City Park – I am a CPA, CA and have worked for the past 45 years as a Director of Finance in both private companies and municipal government.
I hope to continue my work on City Park issues and challenges with your support.
My husband and I moved to City Park three years ago. As I had spent the last twenty years of my career in real estate and construction accounting, I felt that I could be useful on the finance committee, which I joined in September 2023.
In February of this year, due to resignations, I was asked to come onto the board as an interim director, and I was made treasurer. Along with my accounting expertise I bring a very common-sense approach to problem solving which, I hope, has been helpful. It’s in my nature to step up and lend a hand. I have found being on the board challenging and deeply rewarding. The issue of affordable housing is very important to me. The few workable models we have of it must be sustained. Most importantly, for the people who live in them, but also as a successful model of what is possible. I would like to continue to serve on the board and help City Park to thrive.
Zvika served his first term on the Board as a director and was active as the AlP liaison, on the Communication Committee, and on the archive project.
Zvika is planning to start a program to support members living and aging with HIV in City Park. His pre-pandemic career path was in design, retail, and sonsulting. After navigating the challenges of the pandemic and reaching a milestone birthday, Zvika chose to focus on giving back to the community.
Zvika has been living with HIV since 2006 He is an HIV activist, advocating for people aging with HIV and for 2SLGBTQ|+ seniors.
He is a graduate of the "Community Engagement, Development, and Leadership" program at TMU and is involved in working with ASOs in the city. His efforts are primarily focused on raising awareness and developing programs that address the challenges of aging in general and with HIV in particular, as well as combating the stigma surrounding HIV and ageism.
He is currently the developer and coordinator of the
"Building and Belonging and Connections" program for
2SLGBTQI+ seniors at the Rekai Center.
I am running for The Board because I believe in the principles of Co-operative Living. I do not have a personal agenda or an ax to grind.
I was first attracted to City Park by the gardens. I moved here in 2004 after waiting 9 years to get in. I love City Park and I love living here. I think it is a wonderful place to live. However, I recognize that we do have some problems. I want to help The Board find solutions to those problems and to help us continue to thrive as a community. I bring a background in counselling and teaching to the job as well as previous experience being a member of other boards.
